With the large number of new artists trying to make it in the music industry, it has become hard to find an artist that produces something other than the generic pop that is known to top the charts. Makk Mikkael is a rare gem upon the wave of up and coming artists trying to make it big in the pop industry, she isn’t afraid to take risks and step outside of what is expected of a pop artist. She produces pop music but adds her own R&B twist on it.
With the assistance of the Canadian producer Chase Ellestad, Mikkael have managed to deliver a self-written, lyrically rich and radio friendly tune with her single ‘Jungle.’ The heavily R&B influenced track gives us a glimpse of the artist’s soothing voice. The lyrics, coming from personal experience that the artist have gone through, give us a preview of the singer as a person and as an artist.
The artist paired her single with a suiting video, the most noticeable things about the music video are the beautiful aesthetics and the dominance of the color yellow. The video tells the story of two lovers through a series of different clips edited together beautifully, all while emphasizing on the color yellow. The artist explained the significance of that color by stating that it is perceived as a happy color, she herself associates the color with depth into it, similar to her EP.
It didn’t take much for us to fall in love with Makk’s beautiful voice and we can’t wait to hear more from her.
