Orissa, NYC’s progressive/cinematic rock project drops the name from their upcoming album, Resurrection, set to release November 3rd. It was mixed by Sahaj Ticotin, (RA, Meytal Cohen, Adekain, September Mourning) and mastered by Paul Logus, (Stone Sour, Steel Panther, Shadows Fall)
“Progressive metal that demonstrates remarkable mastery.” is what the LP showcases.
Orissa felt that Resurrection was a perfect name for the album. The entire track has an almost haunting feel to it. David Dodini’s (vocalist) captivating voice ranges throughout the tempos changes and vocal arrangements throughout all the songs on the track. He displays aggression and passion in his vocals while also being able to mix things up and prevent the song from feeling repetitive which is a plus.
However, the songs are incredibly long which is not necessarily a bad thing, it just felt like when the song was over another riff comes in and expands on the song. Which is unique which give Orissa their own unique style to them. They stand out which is really good for them.
There is no doubt in my mind that Orissa will capture the rock/metal scene in the music industry. With Resurrection to drop in the fall they should become very successful. I hope to hear more from them soon.
