Singer songwriter, Joel Phil, shares with us his latest single “Monster”. This single follows the success of his debut single released in 2017 “Raise Up”. This single is more a serious and darker tone than the empowering “Raise Up”. Written in only a few minutes, the track was originally made for film, Fifty Shades Freed, with its running themes of intense lust, love and jealousy.
Listening to the song for the first time I felt that this song would fit perfectly in the Fifty Shades series. It is dark and serious just like how the other tracks for the series are. Joel was born and raised in Brooklyn to Spanish/Dominican immigrants, a running theme in his life has been his identity. This struggle he has had his whole life has helped develop his music. When he was young he has always been performing and writing his own original music, his community supported him. He worked Joel worked with mix engineer Jaycen Joshua (Beyonce’s Lemonade, Justin Timberlake’s 20/20, and Chance the Rapper’s Coloring Book) on his debut single, “Raise Up”, that has over 85,000 streams on Spotify and over 500,000 views on YouTube.
“I wrote this song out of frustration…and the end product was an emotional release!” says Joel Phil.
It is definitely clear that in this single it is very emotional and a very catchy tune. I feel that everyone can relate for this single on a certain level. “Monster” is available on any music platform for all listening pleasures!
